It’s interesting to me to note that around the world people are asking, “What are the American’s thinking?” Do they have any idea what the rest of the world is like? If they want something better, anything . . . why don’t they do what they’ve done in the past and work to change the circumstance?
With some exceptions the rest of the world looks at America in admiration for what we’ve done and what we now have . . . until now.
Beware of the man or woman whose ego is so large that they think there is only one way to do something . . . theirs. Our legislators no longer listen! Instead, the minority opinion is what they follow. Every good teacher knows they learn as much or more from the class they teach. If our elected officials would listen, they would have many alternatives to the issues at hand. Alternatives that would provide the grist for compromise. America was built on compromise.
In business, every CEO knows that in order to lead, you must first LISTEN.
Perhaps it’s time to set out “real” goals for our nation and not just ideas. Time was when our elected officials ran on a specific set of goals (the planks to their platform) that they were committed to accomplish. No one ever said or expected that it would be accomplished by ignoring all the basic rules of leadership. No one ever said that compromise is NOT an option.
Perhaps the time has come to rethink the way in which we elect those who petition to be our voice. Perhaps, if they demonstrate that they’re not willing to listen and compromise, then they need to be dismissed because as our employee they failed to represent our views (Democrats and Republicans), our hope and our desire for our nation of very diverse people.
What do you think?
