On October 26th, 2019, the first-ever true Concours d’Elegance was held in the MacDonald Highlands at the DragonRidge Country Club.
One of the featured cars was Colin and Carole Christie’s 1903 Runabout. They are members of the Las Vegas Cadillac Club. This vehicle is one of only 6 in the world that’s fully restored and running. It was compared with the car on the right, a 2020 CT5 that at the time of its appearance was one of only 3 in the world.
In total, there were 149 cars. 99 of the cars were judged in 15 classes. Present were more than a dozen 100 point cars. The pre and post-war winners were magnificent. Here are pictures of the winners and some of the participants on the AutoWeek site. CLICK HERE. Richard MacDonald, the sculptor, also contributed to the ambiance and elegance of the whole event.
DR was fortunate to be selected as the event General Manager. Within a week after the event, he resigned for personal reasons. Stuart Sobek, the Founder and Chairman of the event was kind enough to accept his resignation. Under Stuart’s leadership, this magnificent event will return year after year.
The comments from the Exhibitors and attendees were excellent. Was it perfect, no? Can it be? Absolutely. Stuart is committed to making this a well run cultural event. If you missed it, you should have been there. The website is LasVegasConcours.com. If possible, volunteer in 2020. It will be a lot of fun. For an even better experience, show your car.
Get ready, next year’s event will feature the Cadillac Marque. Stuart already has a few surprises for what promises to be another steller Las Vegas Concours.
Hopefully, we’ll see you and your friends there next year.
