On October 26th, 2019, the first-ever true Concours d’Elegance was held in the MacDonald Highlands at the DragonRidge Country Club.
One of the featured cars was Colin and Carole Christie’s 1903 Runabout. One of only 6 in the world that’s fully restored and running. In total there were 149 cars. 99 of the cars were judged in 15 classes. Present were more than a dozen 100 point cars. The pre and post-war winners were magnificent.
Richard MacDonald, the sculptor also contributed to the ambiance and elegance of the whole event.
I was fortunate to be selected as the event General Manager. Within a week of the event, I resigned. Not because of anyone other than me. I’m just not capable of putting in very long hours 7 days a week. Friends and family made me aware of the stress. Stuart Sobek, the Founder and Chairman of the event was kind enough to accept my resignation. Under Stuart’s leadership, this magnificent event will return year after year.
The comments from the Exhibitors and attendees were excellent. Was it perfect, no? Can it be? Absolutely. Stuart is committed to making this a well run cultural event. If you missed it, you should have been there. The website is LasVegasConcours.com.
Hopefully, I’ll see you there next year.
