Need Followers? Who Doesn’t?

It seems most complicated to get the first 100. This may help. You be the judge.

I began writing and signed up for Medium in October of 2021. A world-class author (he’s published more than thirty-five books on photography), Gary Friedman, suggested I use my new found time to write. I like writing, so I decided to give it a go.

Since then, I’ve published 215 stories, one non-fiction work titled ‘Unlikely,” then two fictional hero stories, and three storybooks in 2022. Each of the storybooks has thirty-one stories. Inside are works of fiction, non-fiction, and a couple of poems. Each story is only two pages or less long.

How I got to 844 followers from 323 back in December

I became interested in those that followed me. What kind of people are they? If you click on your fellow writer’s image, it will take you to their home page. Then, by hovering over the number of followers they have, when you click that, a complete list with the person’s name, image, and bio appears on a separate page. If you’re already following someone, it will say so. If not, a Follow button will appear. Just click on it. Continue to click until you’ve reached about fifty (the limit for the day). At that point, you have to click their image. Then go to their home page. Click on the notify button next to the following button, and you can click on any number just like that.

Within twenty-four hours, your ability to click the follow button will return.

While eight hundred and forty-four people are following me, I’m following more than 2,800 people.I am an avid reader of specific things. On Medium, I can search any name, topic, place, or issue and stories or articles come up on what I’ve requested. If I like the article, I follow that person.

How do you keep track of all of those email notifications?

I not only follow but also want notifications from those I follow when they’ve produced another piece.

I use Google Chrome and Gmail. I’m an avid Apple user. All my phones, pads, desk, and laptops are Apple.

Using Gmail allows me to create filters for all those notifications. For example, I can sort by the Publisher, the Author, or subject matter, or all three. I receive more than twenty-five hundred emails every day except Sunday.

They don’t go to my inbox, and they go to the files I’ve created. When it’s my reading time, I look through my email from Medium or any of the magazines or publishers I subscribe to. If the title is engaging, I’ll click through and read it.

Always leave a clap (up to 50) but only produce a comment if you feel the need to do so.

IDEA

It’s good to use a graphic or say, “I promise to follow you if you follow me.” However, using most of your SEO search criteria wastes time and resources. The hashtags I use are for a reason; details to follow:

  1. Whole point, e.g., Life Lesson, Love, IT, Reading, etc.
  2. The name of the publication I’m writing for: Illumination, Reading a Novel Idea, New Writer’s Welcome, Be Open (also an editor), Dancing Elephant Press, and Refresh the Soul at present.
  3. The next point of the article, e.g., change, spirituality, principles, etc.
  4.  Medium, I feel that if I’m writing for a specific publication, I should still let the rest of Medium know.
  5. A particular cause, e.g., new writers, principle, value, working, etc.

I hope that you’ve found this helpful. Please let others know.New ParagraphNew Paragraph
