I've been a Shriner for over 30 years. My Father-in-Law was the Potentate for the El Bekal Shrine in Anaheim, CA. Ask me if you want to support or become a member of our hospitals. If you missed this program, you can go to Hulu and search for it. It's there.

If you made it this far, you know who I am, or do you? Allow me to share my Masonic story.

Having lost both of my parents by the time I was twenty. My Grandfather stepped up and offered himself as the one person I could turn to without judgement, ready to help. He offered counsel under the condition that he would never give me anything other than the way to find the answer. I agreed.

However, in 1989, he passed. I was 43 years old. For twenty-three years he advised me. If I didn't know how to handle something, he would offer his counsel. He never told me what to do; only the principles and values needed to arrive at my own decision.

In 1989, my Grandfather called me and said he wasn't feeling well. He needed to go to the hospital. It was a forty minute journey down a mountain to the hospital. They admitted him. I stayed until he was in his room. I needed to leave because of my family and my business. Literally, overnight things changed.

The hospital called at five something am to say that if I wanted to see his before he passed on, I'd better get to the hospital immediately. Thirty minutes later I was at his bedside. I scooped him into my arms. He said to me again, just as he did on the ride to the hospital, "Will you become a Mason?" I assured him I would. He told me that he loved me and died in my arms.

I agreed to join Masonry because my grandfather disclosed that he was a Mason on the way to the hospital. He told me the principles and values he gave me came from one of only two places; Masonry and the Holy Bible. After explaining that, I agreed to become a Mason on the ride to the Hospital.

It would be in 1994 before I even began looking for membership. Two years later I mentioned to my wife, "I want to become a Mason." She said, "Why don't you call my Dad, he's been a Mason since 1955." I did, and my journey began. I learned that there are many different of Masonry organizations besides the Lodge. I joined several of them. You'll see there badges below. I am a member of the Bellflower, Ca Lodge, the Las Vegas Scottish Rite, El Bekal Shrine in Anaheim, CA., the York Rite in Long Beach, CA, and the Eastern Star.
